Bake’s place is hidden away in the Mercantile, next to the big Mythos. The have breakfast sandwiches, deli sandwiches and different soups.
My favorite is the baked potato soup with cheese and bacon. You can get a cup or a bowl from them, or I occasionally get half a grilled cheese and a cup of the soup.
Bake’s makes its potato soup from scratch, so some days it is better than others. At its best, it is the best potato soup I’ve had other than the kind David makes me with our special recipe. At its worst, it’s at least on par with Panera or Potbelly’s baked potato. To be completely honest, when it is not-so-good I feel it really just needs a little more salt. I recommend taking some of the packets when you order by the register just in case. If you don't use them, you can always squirrel them away in your desk drawer for later possible uses.
It has cheese and bacon and big chunks of potato. What’s not to like?
I’ve never strayed from my favorite soup, but they have homemade chili and chicken tortilla soups as well, which my co-workers tell me are delicious.
Bakes also has sugar free full throttle and powerade zero in its large variety of drinks. I appreciate both of those after a late night out; and a curious obsession with collecting Elvis memorabilia.

I WOULD AGREE THAT BAKE'S IS THE BEST DELI OF IT'S SORT IN DOWNTOWN CINCINNATI. IT ALSO HAS FAIR PRICE'S. MY FAVORITE IS THEIR FRIDAY SPECIALS (ALL) AND THEIR TUNA ON TOASTED WHOLE WHEAT. AND, SERVICE WITH A SMILE.
ReplyDeleteI agree, with the exception of their muffins. $3.50 for ONE muffin? A little steep there.
